A Story of Transformation
Speaker 1. We pray that the people of God say amen , amen , amen , hey , good morning family , good to see everybody this morning . Good morning to our sisters and brothers that are joining us on the various platforms , looking forward to what God is going to say to us . What's up to everybody that's on YouTube , everybody that's on Facebook , everybody that's joining in on the . Good morning to all of God's children , kind of . Like I said , though , I want to encourage everybody to be in prayer , as people are dealing with various colds and other ailments and things of that nature dealing with various colds and other ailments , and things of that nature . Let's just continue to be mindful that , to just be prayerful for one another as we continue to go forward and y'all stay safe out here . It's that time of the year , weather going back and forth and all that good stuff ,
The Burden of the Past

Embracing New Opportunities
Speaker 1let's do it . Listen , I'm excited about what God has given me for today . It is found in Mark the fifth chapter . I'm going to read , for the sake of time , the tail end of this story and and then share what God has placed on my heart Mark , the fifth chapter . I'm just going to read verse 18 through 20 . As Jesus was getting into the boat , the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him , but Jesus said no , go home to your family and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been . So the man started off to visit the 10 towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him . And everyone was amazed at what he told them . And I would just like to use for a subject today , as the Holy Spirit would allow . Next time it will be different . Next time it will be different Next time . It will be different .
Speaker 1Have those moments that if we could turn back the hands of time and get a do-over , we certainly would probably take advantage of that opportunity . While many of us may have gotten to the place where we say , hey , you know what , everything that I've gone through has shaped me , so I'm good , I believe that there's another crowd that says , man , I wish that I could just have one more shot . I wish I'd have one more chance , even if I don't have to go back , even if it's just God just opening the door one more time . I just wish that I could have another , another shot , another crack at the bat , another bite at the , at the apple . I just , man , I wish that God would , would , would , would , would do it again . Has anybody ever thought , or anybody honest enough to say , lord , if you , if you open this door , if you give me this chance , man , I won't mess it up this time ? I got some good news for you and I truly believe it's from the Lord that many of you should be getting ready not for God to put you in a back-to-the-future vehicle and take you back in time to change anything . God doesn't work like that , but you ought to be getting ready for your the next time . I truly believe in the spirit that this time God is about to give you yet another opportunity that you thought that passed you by , and I just want to tell you that the next time is going to be , is going to be different . That's what the Lord gave me late last night , to tell you all that another opportunity is coming your way and this next time it's going to be different . Somebody typed in already getting ready for my next time . Yes , lord , next time it's going to be different , so much so you don't even have to worry about what happened the last time . The next time is going to be different . I pray that you can receive that by faith , and I can show you how I see this in this text . But first you got to be able to say this text , but first you got to be able to say I receive that by faith , that next time it's going to be different . Next time when I get yet another career opportunity , it's going to be different . Next time when I get another relational opportunity , it's going to be different . Next time when I get an opportunity to reconcile with a family member , it's going to be different . Next time when I get an opportunity to reconcile with a family member , it's going to be different . Next time when God gives me an opportunity to serve him , it's going to be different . I'm so glad Congratulations early in advance that your next time is going to be different . Holler at me now . Next time is going to be different . Holler at me now . Next time it's going to be different . Facebook , they hollered at me on Zoom . I need to make sure y'all talking back to me , because this is a faith . This is a faith , a prophetic message , but it has to be received by faith , and I can show you how we got there in this text .
Speaker 1This particular text is an interesting text that some of you all have read . It is about Jesus arriving in this region where , as he arrives from doing ministry on the other side he arrives to this region by boat he encounters a man that is possessed with an evil spirit and when the man had an interesting life , he lived in burial caves because he had been kind of outcast from the town because the town was afraid of him . The town was afraid of him because , so afraid of him , they tried to restrain him with chains , they tried to shackle him . But he was so strong that he was able to snap the chains and the shackles . Nobody was strong enough to subdue him . But even though he was strong physically , he was tormented mentally . He was tormented in his soul and the Bible says that he would spend his days and nights howling and cutting himself with sharp stones .
Speaker 1But he then has an encounter with Jesus . And when he has this encounter with Jesus , after some back and forth , the demons on the inside of him start talking . And after a little back and forth banter , at some point Jesus cast out the many demons that were in the individual . We know there were many , because they call themselves legions suggesting that there was an army of demons inside of him . And Jesus cast out what was in him . And then the man is so excited about his healing and his deliverance he wants to go with Jesus . But Jesus sends him back to the ten towns to tell everybody what the Lord has done .
Speaker 1Now let me show you how I see all of us in this text . The next time is going to be different for you , because this man represents a person who the society had given up on his family , had given up on his job , had given up on . Everybody had given up on his frat , had given up on him . Everybody had given up on him because it was too late for him . His strongholds , his proclivities , his demons , his stuff , his struggles had become too much for the world around him . So they had given up on him . But this is the first thing . I want to tell you how I know that your next time is going to be different . Your next time is going to be different because you will no longer be carrying the demons of your past . This man , everything in him , wanted another chance at life , wanted another chance in society , wanted another chance . And what I saw ? The first thing that I knew that this time , when God blessed him and when he got a chance to go back home , I knew his next time would be different because he would no longer be carrying the demons of his past .
Speaker 1Remember , in the story , jesus has cast out all of the demons , and I want to speak that God is for those of us that are open spiritually for it . It he's casting out the demons of the past . He's casting out the stuff that has isolated us . He's casting out the stuff that has restricted us . He's casting out the stuff that has become a barrier . He's casting out the stuff that has molded us in a bad way . And I want to tell you I got good news . I know that the next time is going to be different for you , because the last time you was carrying so much stuff it don't even make no sense . I need some people to talk to me this morning . Talk back , like we at church , using them keyboard fingers that you got .
Speaker 1Last time , when you were in a relationship , you was carrying so much stuff . Last time you tried to open a business , you was carrying so much stuff . Last time you tried to open a business , you was carrying so much stuff . Last time you tried to be a good friend , you was carrying so much stuff . But this time is going to be different , because you will not be carrying the demons of your past . You will not be carrying the demon of trying to meet somebody else's expectation . You will not be carrying the demon of trying to please everybody else . You will not be carrying the demon of not being truthful about who you are . You're going to be uniquely you . You're going to be who God has called you to be . You are free , you are set , you are delivered and you will no longer be carrying that stuff . Isn't that some good news ?
Speaker 1I know the next time it's going to be different , because the last time you did all that , you did with all the stuff that you was carrying and the Lord said you are not going to be carrying this stuff for the past . So this time , with lighter feet , this time with lighter shoulders , this time with a clearer head , this time with a clearer mind , this time with a healed heart I speak a healed heart to some of you this time with a made up mind . Yes , this time it will not be . It was going to be different . But for it to be different , you got to be like this man . You got to have an encounter with Jesus . If you won't light a feet , if you won't delay your burdens down , you have to have an encounter with Jesus . Listen , old school saints know what I'm talking about . We sang a song Burdens Down , burdens Down . Since I laid my burdens down , I feel better , so much better Since I laid my burdens down . It will be different because you are going to have an encounter with Jesus just as you are .
Speaker 1Real encounter with Jesus coming and saying God , I got all of this stuff and I can't carry it anymore . This is what I'm dealing with . This is who I am . I got all of this stuff and I can't carry it anymore . This is what I'm dealing with . This is who I am . I'm tired of being angry . I'm tired of being misunderstood . I'm tired of being this , that and the other .
Speaker 1He has this encounter with Jesus and we know it's never going to be the same for him anymore , because he's not carrying the stuff that ultimately put him in the tomb , that ultimately put him in isolation . Come out of the tomb , family , tell somebody to come out of the tomb , come out of isolation , come out of depression , come out of disappointment . And this time we know it's going to be different . But I know it's going to be different for you the next time , not only because you will not be carrying the demons of your past . I know it's going to be different for you the next time because here's number two , the demons of your past . I know it's going to be different for you the next time because here's number two you will no longer have to find unhealthy ways to soothe your pain . It's going to be different for you this time because you will no longer have to find unhealthy ways to soothe your pain . If you look at the text carefully , it talked about around verse 5 , mark 5 , verse 5 that not only was he demon possessed and not only was he in isolation , he spent time howling and cutting himself With sharp stones .
Speaker 1Sometimes in the Bible there are things that are going on that are not familiar to our culture , so we have to do a lot more explaining , but this one is one that's still prevalent in the world today . I've had , I've known people personally who dealt with the issue of cutting and I believe in the spirit . I believe that some of you , maybe when you were younger , have dealt with that . Y'all ever met anybody you don't have to put your business in the street but you ever met anybody that dealt with that issue ? That will cut themselves Not necessarily deep cuts , but it's a psychological issue . But it is usually a person that is trying to deal with a pain that is going on in their mind , body and soul in an unhealthy way and they become a cutter . We see it in kids , we see it even in , you know , some young adults , and they will . They will cook themselves and then try to hide the cuts and they do this because there is something going on in them and they're they're dealing with the pains of yesterday in an unhealthy way .
Speaker 1And this time I can tell you that I know it's going to be different from you because for you , because just like this man , when you have your encounter with Jesus , you will no longer have to have unhealthy ways to soothe your pain . And maybe your unhealthy way was not cutting , but maybe your unhealthy way was avoidance . Maybe your unhealthy way was substance abuse . Maybe your unhealthy way was entangling yourselves with unhealthy relationships and unhealthy people . Maybe your healthy way was a dangerous coping mechanism .
Speaker 1The Lord is saying whatever your unhealthy way is or was , next time is going to be different for you , because you won't deal with your pain and the problems of life the same way . The reality of this thing called life I ain't got to tell y'all this . We're going to always have stuff that we got to deal with . But , as I often quote Charles Swindle , life is only 10% what happens to us , yet 90% of how we respond to it . So next time is going to be different because , as you have a lighter load , because God has removed some stuff , as you have a clearer mind , when crazy folk come up to you talking crazy , you'll handle it so much more effectively when God does promote you . You will handle other people's jealousy so much more efficiently when people misunderstand you jealousy so much more efficiently when people misunderstand you . You will finally get to the point when somebody smacks you in it you can turn the other cheek . My point is that God is going to heal you mentally so that you will never have to find unhealthy ways to soothe what has been hurting you .
Speaker 1And some of your unhealthy ways are not as obvious as others . A cutter is more obvious . But I'm really concerned about some of you all that deal with your pains in such an unhealthy way but you're like a secret agent with it . You hide it so well that you've got to kind of look at you in the spirit to see . They look good , they smell good . They got Chanel number five , they got Red Bottoms , they got Jordans , they got Stacey Angles . They look good , they got Ultra Permanent . They have no good . But truth of the matter is that they deal with stuff in a very unhealthy way and they are dying on the inside . So I want to speak to everybody that's maybe on here that is dealing with your disappointment , that is dealing with your sadness , that is dealing with your disoppression , that is dealing with your stuff .
Speaker 1The Lord is saying that going forward you won't have to deal with your stuff in an unhealthy way . No more cutting . Somebody had to type no more cutting and cutting . What I'm talking about in the spirit realm yes , certainly speaking to any actual cutters on the room , but I'm talking about some of the ones that are cutting yourself by some unhealthy behavior . The Lord said to tell you no more cutting . And next time it's going to be different , because when folk come at you , you're going to have what it takes to handle stuff in a spiritual way , in a positive way , in a way that's going to make sure that you're victorious .
Speaker 1The enemy will try some of the same old traps and what they'll discover is that you're different because you're not the same . God has done something to you and he's going to quickly discover that that dog won't hunt anymore , that that thing won't hurt anymore . So we know that next time won't be different . Number one , because you will not be carrying the demons of your past . Number two next time will be different because you will no longer have to find unhealthy ways to soothe your pain . No more cutting . Number three you understand that if God is for you , it really doesn't matter how many demons in hell are against you . Let me run that one back . You now understand that if God is for you , it really doesn't matter how many demons in hell are against you . I need this one one more time . You understand now that if God is for you , it really doesn't matter how many demons in hell are against you . Listen , I certainly know that we all need friends . That's the Bible . We all need companionship . That's the Bible . A three cord strand is not easily broken . That's the Bible .
Speaker 1But we also know what it feels like for odds to be stacked against us . We understand what it feels like in the business world to try to go and find funding for the vision and the bank say no , bank after bank , no , no , no . We understand what it feels like to have people around us who are opposed to us . I'm not the pastor , the preacher that likes to spend a lot of time talking about haters and naysayers . We give them too much authority . But I will say there is a reality that many times the odds are stacked against you . Right , can we be real this morning ? Y'all going to talk to me this morning , isn't it real ? Isn't it true that many times that the odds seem to be stacked against you , that is every time you want to do good ? Evil is always present . Every time you seem like you come up , somebody pulls you back down . Every time it seems like you have a new opportunity , here comes that devil again , always trying to mess up something . But I'm just here to encourage you that next time is going to be greater , because you now understand that if God is for you , it really doesn't matter how many demons in hell are against you .
Speaker 1This man was by himself , with potentially thousands of demons . If we look at the word legion in its literal sense , he had all of these demons on the inside of him . He has all of these things that are stacked up against him . The town , the 10 towns , have given up on him . His family has given up on him . His employer has given up on him . If he got a family , they've given up on him . If he got a family , they've given up on him . And he's all in the mountains , all by himself , until the Holy One , the lover of our souls , the rescuer of our life , the waymaker , the miracle worker , the promise keeper , the alpha and the omega , the lily and the valley , the bright and the morning star , until the son of David , until Barry's baby boy shows up on the scene and says that if I'm for you , it does not matter how many people and demons are against you .
Speaker 1Can I encourage you with that today , not to work in isolation , but to let you know don't worry about the opposition no more . You hear what I said , because next time it's going to be different . Next , last time you had opposition and you let the opposition get the best of you , but this time it's going to be different because you're going to stop looking at the opposition . You're going to learn to reach beyond the brick , you're going to stop looking at what they say , you're going to stop looking at the opinions of people and you're going to go with God , and God is going to take you further than you've ever been before . Next time is going to be different because you will remind yourself of that biblical truth over and over again that the Lord , god Almighty , is on your side . Isn't that good news that when God is on your side , the first thing that he does is that he eliminates the opposition ? But when God is on your side , I want to tell you this he's not going to leave you in isolation . He is going to connect you with people that are of kindred spirit . He's going to connect you with people that want to see you win . He wants to connect you with people that are going to help to propel you to your next . The next time is going to be different . Last time you were by yourself . Last time you didn't have the right people , but I heard the Lord say you better get ready , because this time God is about to get rid of the opposition and he's going to surround you with proponents that are going to do a great thing in your life . Finally , the last thing that we have , number one next time will be different because you will not be carrying the demons of your past .
Speaker 1Bye-bye , demons . No weapon formed here . You no longer have any authority here . I wish I had some people that was unashamed to say that I deal with demons of yesterday . You ought to tell the demons bye-bye . We ain't got about three minutes .
Speaker 1Go say bye-bye , demons . You have no authority over my family . You have no authority over my marriage . You have no authority over my family . You have no authority over my marriage . You have no authority over my children . You have no authority over my family . Bye-bye , demons you cast out in Jesus' name . Number two you will no longer have to find unhealthy ways . Tell them I'm free , I don't have to soothe myself unhealthily . Number three that was number two . Number three you now understand when God is for you , it really doesn't matter how many demons of hell are at issue . You're going to win anyway , isn't that good ? You're going to win anyway . And number four here's the last one . I know the next time is going to be different because here it is , you will be obedient to your next assignment from God . Number four I need you to marinate on number four . Real good , I know the next time is going to be different , because you will be obedient to your next assignment from God . What do you mean ? Well , if you look at the text , after Jesus healed the man um in uh in verse 18 .
The Importance of Obedience
Speaker 1Oh well , after he , I'm sorry , after he healed a man earlier in the in the verses and cast out the , the demons .
Speaker 1And the demons went into a herd of two thousand pigs . The crowd came around . And the crowd was mad and scared at the same time . The crowd was mad in part because the swine represented somebody's income , that was , somebody's money . The crowd was also afraid because they'd never seen anything like that occur Demons leave a man's body and go into the pigs , and so the crowd is mad . The crowd is pleading with Jesus to go Get out of here , Jesus . We don't want you here . You messed up our money . Get out of here , jesus . This religious stuff you're doing is spooky . Get out of here , jesus . We don't want no part of this . We don't want no part of this .
Speaker 1And naturally , the man sees the crowd's reaction to Jesus . They see the crowds . He sees the crowd's anger to Jesus . But he also knows that this is the same crowd that rejected him . So they're mad at the one that saved him to the point they probably want to attack Jesus . They mad at him and he looks around and said Jesus , I can't go back to that . First of all , if I go back with this crowd , I won't have you because you'll be gone . Second , these the same people that rejected me . Let me just go with you .
Speaker 1But Jesus says something interesting to the man . He says no . What do you do when Jesus tells you no , jesus , I need to go with you . They may kill me . They never understood me . They abandoned me . You're the only person in the planet . You know what I'm saying . That gave me another chance , but Jesus said no .
Speaker 1He said go home to your family , because Jesus understood something . He said go home to your family . Jesus understood something . He said go home to your family because next time it's going to be different , and I also appreciate the fact that his first assignment was to go home to his family . I want to speak to everybody in the room and say go home to your family and , by faith in Jesus name , that next time is going to be different . Reconcile with family the best that you can . You can't make anybody do anything , but sometimes , after God deals with us , you just never know when God is going to open the door . He says no . Go home to your family and tell the family everything that the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been . Don't go home and try to reconcile with somebody and talk about what they did . If you're going to reconcile with somebody and talk about what they did , if you're going to reconcile with somebody and start talking about I messed up . I wasn't a good husband . I messed up . I wasn't a good wife . I messed up . I wasn't the best mom . I messed up . I wasn't the best dad . I messed up . I could have did some stuff better .
Speaker 1The first assignment is he goes home to his family , and next time I know it's going to be different , because you know what you will be obedient to your next assignment from God . So God tells him to go home to his family , and then he tells him to go to the 10 towns of the region and he began to proclaim the great things that Jesus had done , and the Bible says that everyone was amazed . Now here's what I'm trying to leave you with . This time , when God opens another door for you , it's going to require you to do something that you're quite uncomfortable with . It's going to require you to do something that that you said man , I tried this before . It didn't work . You literally got me the nerve to go talk to these people . You literally have the nerve to tell me to go back over there .
Speaker 1But I believe the Lord is saying that next time is going to be different . You will be obedient to your next assignment from God , and if you are obedient to your next assignment from God , you will see God move in a supernatural way , because the Bible says that when this man went back and he was obedient . Everyone was amazed at what he told them . I believe that next time is going to be different , because God has freed you and , since you are going to be obedient to what's uncomfortable , god is going to use you as a light in the midst of darkness . God is going to use you as a witness in a spot where people need a witness . God is going to use you where people need a testimony . And because of your obedience from God , I know the next move is going to be great . I know the next move is going to be epic .
Speaker 1Somebody said the next time is going to be different because God is going to use you in a greater way . You're going to be obedient and God and people will be amazed at your testimony . People will be amazed at the fact that , how you got to where you got . People will be amazed at what God is going to do . But it starts with obedience and I just want to pray right now for all of our obedience , because next time it's going to be different . Get ready , get ready . I know you said you'd never do it again . I know you said you'd never try again , but I heard the Lord say tell them . Next time it's going to be different . As long as they follow these steps , it's going to be different .
Speaker 1Let's go to the Lord in prayer . Lord , we love you . We , this morning , we thank you for this opportunity . God , we just thank you again for meeting us here , as you always do , god , as we continue to journey forward , breaking barriers and doing the work in the earth that you called us to do , be with us in our Bible study tonight . Thank you for being with us this morning . I pray peace and blessings over every person on the side of my voice . Some people are trembling right now because they got to do something that is really uncomfortable . But be with them , god , speak to them Holy Spirit , give them wisdom and guidance , and I know that it's going to work out for their good . God , we're careful today . Give your name our glory , honor and praise . It's in the powerful name of Jesus we pray that the people of God say amen , amen , amen . Love you all , family , look forward to seeing you all in Bible study at 7 pm . May God bless you . May God keep you . May heaven smile upon you .
