praise . Now , god , as we prepare to be inspired this morning by the word , I pray that you will open our hearts and ears and our minds so that we can be receptive . I also pray that everybody has an amazing day . I pray , god , that it's a productive day . I pray that it's a spirit-filled day . I pray that it's a day that our steps are ordered by you , o Lord . I pray for those that have family members , god , that are going through sickness . I pray for those that , individually , may be going through sickness . Have your way . I pray for our finances . I pray for our future . I pray for our nation in the mighty name of Jesus . Go with us , god , walk with us , god , talk with us on today . We pray for the name of Jesus . We pray that the people of God say amen with us . God , talk with us today . We'll be careful to give you , in the name of the glory , honor and praise , and in the powerful name of Jesus , we pray that the people of God say amen , amen , amen , family , good morning .

Today the word is from the book of Colossians , the third chapter . Colossians , the third chapter uh , reading , uh , starting at um verse one , and , and . And I'm going to read down , um , maybe to about verse um 10 , colossians , the third chapter uh , chapter one , um verse uh , verses one through 10 . Let's do it .

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ , set your sights on the realities of heaven , where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand . Think about the things of heaven , not the things of earth . Well , you died to this life and your real life is hidden with Christ in God , and when Christ is , who is , your life is revealed to the whole world , you will share in all his glory . So put to death the sinful earthly things lurking within you have nothing to do with sexual immorality , impurity , lust and evil desires . Don't be greedy , for a greedy person is an idolater worshiping the things of this world . Because of these sins , the anger of God is coming . You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world , but now is the time to get anger , rage , malicious behavior , slander and dirty language . Don't lie to each other , for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds . Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your creator and become like him In this new life . It doesn't matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile , circumcised or uncircumcised , barbaric , uncivilized slave or free . Christ is all that matters , and he lives in all of us . That's good enough , right there . That was actually all the way down to verse 11 .

I , I , I pray as we praise God and we honor and celebrate all of you all for being for journeying with us whenever you can . But I want to give you some context for those that are journeying with us on Sunday .

We are about to enter into a season of holy consecration . As a matter of fact , it starts on Saturday . Saturday at six o'clock . We'll be going into this to prayer , because you can't go into a season of consecration without going into prayer , and consecration is something that is is a super weapon that is about to help some of you all break some barriers like never before . What is consecration ? Consecration is the act of setting ourselves apart , setting ourselves aside for what God is about to do next in our life . So when I go into a season of consecration , it prepares me for my new , next meaning , the thing that God is about to do , the door that he's about to open , but it also it secures me in my now , so I can be in a season of consecration waiting on God to move for my tomorrow . is a spiritual journey . It's a journey that will require you to examine yourself like never before .

Consecration , in a nutshell , is a stripping . When you would see people be instructed to consecrate themselves , they would strip off the old , they would cleanse themselves on the outside , but also because it requires us to put down some stuff that feels good to us . Consecration is not often comfortable , but it's necessary . Consecration is not something that is practiced , even though it's probably one of the more powerful things that God has ever given us , and the consecration is about what God is about to give us to break some barriers . I see in the spirit that if we go into this posture of consecration , if you I'm talking to you , talking to one in your bed , talking to one in your car , talking to one wherever you may be right now If you take these days seriously , barriers will be broken . I see barriers being broken by those that go into this posture .

It's the thing that you're missing . You got the information , but now you just need the power . You got the information , but now it's time to change . Now you just need the power . You got the information , but now it's time to change . Consecration is going to change your life forever more . And so then you say , pastor , I hear you , I want to be , I want to go through this part journey of consecration , because consecration is also going to draw you closer to God . Then you may be asking well , how do I do that ?

Well , in this amazing passage of scripture , the author here helps this body of believers , help them to understand what it means to live a life in Christ Jesus . So the first thing that I want to talk about , as it relates to consecration , is that it requires you to have a life , a relationship with God . If we're going to talk about consecration , number one , it starts with having a relationship with God . Look at Colossians , the third chapter , verse one . It says since you have been raised to new life with Christ , let's take a pause right there , he said since you know , that means that something . Therefore , in conclusion , accordingly , since you have this relationship with God , there is a different expectation of you , and so the first thing I want to talk about with consecration is you got to check your relationship with God . We want to make sure that you are a person that has made a confession with your mouth and believe in your own heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God . Right , because it starts a relationship . Somebody said it starts with relationship . Now , after having a relationship with God .

The next thing that this particular passage teaches us is that it's all about vision , right ? So number one is relationship , number two is vision . I'm reading from the New Living Translation it says set your sights on the realities of heaven , where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand . I believe that , as we go into this posture of consecration , god is about to change your vision . Your perspective is about to shift . What matters to you , uh , is about to shift .

Uh , what you were chasing , you may not chase anymore , because you have a different vision . God is showing you something's different . You , you've set your sights , you know . In other words , you were focusing over here , but your target has changed to over uh , there . Somebody says set your sights , set your sights . Set your sights not on things that uh , decay , not on things that have faded away . Set your sights , set your sights . Set your sights not on things that decay , not on things that have faded away , but set your sight on what's eternal .

There's an old hymn that said build your hope on things eternal , hold to God's unchanging hand . And then it was relationship . It's sight , but then it's mental . Somebody say it's mental . Look at verse two . Verse two says think about the things of heaven , not the things of earth . So what consecration does ? It reminds us that it's a relationship , it reminds us that it's sight and it reminds us that it's mental . Y'all are helping me already better than I thought I would . I hope I'm helping you . Verse two says think about the things of heaven , not the things of earth . Right , because if I go into a posture of consecration , my mind has to shift . And so for somebody that has been dealing with stuff in your mind , then it's a great opportunity for consecration to make your mind shift , make your mind all of a sudden be have them . You'll start to have the mind of Christ as you operate and what you do , why he says for you are , you are dead to this life and your real life is hidden with what hidden with Christ in God .

Consecration means I , it's time to let it go . So , yeah , that's what I want to say for verse three . So again , we talked about it's relational , we talked about sight , we talked about it's mental , but then verse three says that it's time to let it go . And I think that's the key . The key part of consecration is that we got to realize that it's time to let it go . And I want to talk to you about some things that that that are in this scripture that we got to let go . He says why . He said because our life is not our own . Verse four and when Christ is who is your life . See , now Christ is our life , is revealed to the whole world . You will share in all his glory . Our life is not our own . Consecration helps us to realize that we have given ourselves away . So now , since it's time to let it go , what are we letting go ? Well , verse five starts to step on all of our toes . Verse five comes out like a machine gun . It just mows everybody down . It says so here it it is .

So we got to put the devil , sinful earthly things lurking within you in a season of consecration . Put together the , the sinful things that are lurking within you . Man , it's some simple stuff lurking within me and I got to put it away . Notice , I really this morning didn't really talk about what's lurking in you . I had to say that I'm talking about what's lurking in me because consecration requires me to look in the mirror . Somebody said consecration requires me to look in the mirror . I have to look at the sins that put to death the sinful earthly things that are lurking within me . I have to put away thoughts that are not godly . I have to put away all of these things that are lurking within me . I have to put away thoughts that are not godly . I have to put away all of these things that are lurking within me .

And then he gives a list . This is not an exhaustive list , meaning that it's not everything , but he hits some highlights that help us and that we got to deal with have nothing to do with sexual immorality , impurity , lust and evil desires . Man , oh man . It's amazing that when we talk about sexual sin , we always like to compartmentalize and take it down to one thing or one group . But the Lord is saying in the season of consecration , we got to all deal with our lusts . We got to all deal with what may turn us on in an unhealthy way .

In a season of consecration for all my singles out there , listen , I understand , I get it , but the truth of the matter is , in this season of consecration , I challenge you , to encourage you to see what does a God-fearing relationship look like outside of marriage . Right , and if you really want God to bless your union , I want to challenge you to go into a season of consecration where Leroy got to hold out , right , where Diane got to wait a minute , right . I want us for the singles and then , if you're married , whatever that means for you because sometimes married people struggle with different forms of it but stay away from those things that entice you , things that you have no business looking at . Amen , somebody , because it's time to get pure . So , but it may be sex for some , but there are other lusts , Right ? There are other evil desires . Some of y'all are not freaky deeks , so y'all hormones are low , your testosterone low , so you think you extra safe because that ain't your issue . But the reality is we all have lust and we all have evil desires of some sort that try to creep up on us . We're going to be real in consecration . We might as well talk about it . Every last one of us have some things that we may desire that may not be of God , and so consecration is a reminder that it's time to put that stuff down .

Somebody said I think I better let it go . It says don't be greedy , for a greedy person is an idolater worshiping things of this world . Do you not realize that some people are greedy for success . We all want success , but you can get to the point that you are so greedy for success that so greedy for promotion , so greedy to be the top that becomes your God , more so than God itself . Everything else you want to do in the world has become a priority instead of your worshiping God , instead of you serving God's people , instead of you doing what God has called you to do . Somebody said I think I better let it go . It means I got to prioritize my life . Yeah , I got to prioritize my life .

If I'm going to go into this posture of worship and seek ye first , the kingdom of God and his righteousness , that all of these things will be added unto us . It says that worshiping the things of this world . So , in this posture of consecration , we got to ask ourselves what has become my worship right Other than God creation . We got to ask ourselves what has become my worship right Other than God . Am I worshiping people ? Am I worshiping places ? What have I put before God ? You may consider it worship , but the truth of the matter is sometimes we worship our calendars more than we worship God . Sometimes we worship our own priorities more than we worship , you know , god . Sometimes we just put things ahead of God and it becomes our posture of worship and it says because of these sins , the anger of God is coming .

We don't like to talk about the fact that the Bible reminds us that God is a just God , but God is a God of correction . The Bible is clear that God chastises those that he loved . That doesn't mean that he condemns us , for there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus . But if you keep on keeping on , after a while God is going to show up . Somebody said I think I better let it go . You know , I used to always kind of jokingly tell y'all but I was also real about it I say if three people go in to rob a bank and you want on with your holy self , you're the one that's going to get caught . You know why ? Because you ain't built for that , you're not called to that and God is not going to allow you to operate in a way that other folk operate , because you have been saved and you have been set free .

Somebody said I think I better let it go , because the Bible says that the anger of God is coming , right , that he's not going to allow us to keep just playing with him . Right , he's not going to allow us to keep going through these religious gymnastics . He's not going to allow us to hold these titles but we can't hold love in our heart . He's not going to allow us to keep doing these things that we say we do in his name , but we can't forgive one another . He's not going to allow us to keep behaving this way as a body of believers without consequence . Right , we have to realize that we better let it go , because God is not going to allow his body to just keep wilding out , if you will , before there being some consequences , because he's a loving God . He's a loving God , he's a just God , he's our father and at some time , a good father is going to come in and correct some stuff . When stuff gets out of order , a good father is going to come in and get you back in line , no matter what he has to do to get you back in line .

Somebody said I think I better let it go . He says you used to do these things when your life was still part of this world . Right , I smoke , I drink . I'm supposed to stop , but I can't . I'm a dog I love . Okay , for those that don't know , that's not my testimony per se , that's a song , but to remind you that , of something that we used to do , somebody used to do those things right . I used to be angry all the time . When , when I was a part of this world , I used to not be able to deal with my own emotional insecurities . When , when I was a part of this world , I used to not have self-awareness about some of my issues . When , when I was a part of this world , somebody say I used to . Somebody need to say that prophetically . Say I'm going into this season of consecration and I used to have anger issues . I used to be not able to forgive , I used to be not able to get along with somebody . You need to say that out loud . Say I used to . But somebody say , hey , we have verse 8 . But now somebody say but now is the time to get rid of anger , rage , malicious behavior , slander and dirty language . I want to talk to somebody and say now is the time . Somebody said I think I better let it go . I think I better let it go . Was that my boy , teddy P Looks like another love TKO . But now is the time to get rid of it .

Real talk when you're going to consider a season of consecration . We got to let this stuff go . Anger , rage , malicious behavior , slander and dirty language Y'all . If you're going to go into consecration , don't be cussing during consecration . Don't be talking sideways about people in consecration . Don't be gossiping in consecration . Right ? Be mindful of what you post

The Importance of Consecration

Verse 9 , don't lie to each other . You ain't got a lot of ticket . Don't lie to each other . Why , for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds . Now , as we have stripped ourselves and setting ourselves apart , consecration means I got to take off the old man . I got to take off the old stuff . I got to say search me , oh God , I'm nasty . Search me , oh God , there's some stink . Search me , oh God , there's some mold . Search me , oh God , there's some stuff from my last relationship . Search me , oh God , there's some stuff I've yet to heal from . Take off this stuff . Wash me , god . Mold me , empty me . Get all of that stuff out , god . And then what ? Verse 10 , here it is Put on your new nature . That's the celebration , the consecration to put on your new nature , why ? And be renewed as you learn to know your creator and become like him . Somebody said I'm going to let the old stuff go out with the old and with the new . Put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your creator and become like him .

Verse 11 tells us the power of this new life . In this new life , it does not matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile , circumcised or uncircumcised , barbaric , uncivilized , slave or free . Christ is all that matters and he lives in all of us . He was saying in consecration that religious gymnastics are out of the window . He was saying in consecration , religious discrimination is not the issue . It doesn't matter if you're black , it doesn't matter if you're white , it doesn't matter if you're male , it doesn't matter if you're female , it doesn't matter this or that . Christ in all , that's all that matters . And so in a season of consecration is a time to keep your mind stayed on Jesus , to really understand who God is molding you and shaping you to be .

In consecration , you may experience some pain points because if the thorn has been in your flesh a long time in a season and a posture of consecration , if God is removing it . It may be painful because it's been embedded in your skin . You've gotten used to it being there . I want to speak real quick to the stuff that's been embedded in your skin , that you allowed to get used to being there . It's been there so long that sometimes you forget that it's there . But the Lord said that thing is about to be removed . In this season of consecration , hallelujah , one of my worshipers said somebody said it's about to be removed . I'm about to let it go .

Now the removal process . Y'all ever had something , a splinter or something in your skin or something of that nature . Sometimes the removal process can be a little bit painful , but I'm here to remind you that on the other side of the removal it feels so much better . You feel so much lighter and I speak a lighter load . On the other side I speak something that you have been dealing with for years .

On the other side I speak to some women who are the Lord in their 60s and men in their 60s who have been . By the time you get around that age , you kind of get stuck in your ways . When we get up to that age , humans kind of pretty much like well , this is just what it's going to be . But the Lord is saying I'm about to do a new thing . For some of you , all that are 60 plus , who kind of got stuck in your ways , god is saying get ready , I'm about to do something new in this season of consecration . For those that are younger , shout out to my 20 somethings out there . For those that are younger , shout out to my 20-somethings out there . I see God saying I'm consecrating you early so that you don't have to make all of the same mistakes that some of your family made , that you don't have to go through all of the pain that they went through . And I'm consecrating you early because he knows what you've already gone through . So he's going to wash you so your whole life does not get ruined by that . I want to talk to my career people that's in between the 20s and the 60s and all of that , and say the Lord is about to make a mega transformation and a transition with you in this season of consecration .

So what do you need to do ? You need to be serious about this prayer and fasting that we're doing . What do you need to do ? You need to show up every night that you can . We're going to pray on that Saturday , but then we're going to be in worship Sunday and then we're going to be there Monday through Friday with some dynamic speakers from across this land . That's going to bless us . It's going to be crazy . Every night I'll come and believe in God for people to be set free . I'm coming to believe God for people to be loosened in the name of Jesus . I'm telling you , and bring somebody with you . I'm telling you , just bring somebody with you . It's going to be crazy Monday through Friday . It's going to be like I'm just believing God for just a street revival type bananas atmosphere every night . So looking for God to move in a special way .
